note 08
Your own web address
A vercel.app link is already on the internet. A name you bought is extra. If you want one, buy it where the site already lives so you are not wiring two websites together by hand.
01
You may already be online
A link that ends in vercel.app is a real link. Finishing something small does not require a name you bought. Send that. If a friend can open it, you are done for now.
02
A domain is just the name
yourgame.com. Something short. People type it or forget it. It is not the site. It is the doorbell. The site can live without it. A doorbell with nobody home is a waste of money.
03
Do the whole thing in Vercel
Host the site there. Buy the name there. Point the name at the site there. One account, one bill. Vercel hooks the doorbell to the house. You skip the Saturday of “I bought it on one site and the site lives on another and now nothing loads.”
04
A grown-up has to click buy
Money, email, a card. That is a family call. You drive what the site says and how it looks. They drive the checkout. Do not invent a second account to get around that.
05
Then open it like a stranger
Wait until Vercel says the name is hooked up. Type the name in a new tab — not the tab you already had open. If it fails, say what you see. Keep the vercel.app link. It still works, and it is a backup doorbell.
You do not need a custom name to be finished. The fancy doorbell is optional. The friend with a link is not.
